VOLUNTEER POLICY

The Cantilon Choral Program is a volunteer-supported organization relying heavily on the volunteer work of our families. Your volunteer and fundraising activities translate into funds and time that contribute to the running of our programs. Reasonable program fees are dependent upon members volunteering their time.

We require that all families donate service to Cantilon. The levels of volunteer commitment vary for each choir. In order to ensure that volunteer commitments are fulfilled, a deposit cheque will be collected at your first rehearsal. Upon completion of your volunteer commitment, this cheque will be shredded. Alternatively, you may opt to pay the volunteer fee and not perform any volunteering during the year. For all cases in which the volunteer commitment is not met, the deposit cheque will be cashed. The volunteer fee varies per choir.

CONCERTS AND EVENTS

All society members must commit to purchase and/or sell tickets to concerts.

FUNDRAISING POLICY AND COMMITMENT

Every year Cantilon offers several fundraising opportunities and we strongly encourage our families to participate. Group fundraisers benefit Cantilon, while individual fundraisers benefit choristers directly.

With the intention of making our programs affordable to all Cantilon members, we offer families the opportunity to fundraise to cover their fees through individual fundraisers. In past years, this has included grocery cards, Stawnichy's Sausage, Mabel's Labels, Purdy’s Chocolates, Delong Wreaths, and a gift card fundraiser. In a nutshell: you, your colleagues and friends pay retail value on fundraising items and then Cantilon receives a discount which is credited straight back to your Cantilon account.

For Chamber Choir, Belle Canto, and Vox Hominis, what you make through individual fundraisers is credited to your fundraising commitment for the current choir season.  Any excess earned for the current year requirement is applied to the following season’s program fees. For Children's Choir, Primary Choir, and KinderSingers, fundraising credits can help to lower your fees for next season or you can choose to donate them directly to Cantilon.

UNIFORM POLICY AND DEPOSIT

Cantilon Choirs owns the uniforms of all choristers except those in Belle Canto and Vox Hominis, who must purchase and maintain their own uniforms.

To ensure that uniforms are returned, a $100 refundable post-dated cheque will be required for each rented uniform ($200 for Chamber Choir). The Uniform deposit cheque will be shredded when the uniform is returned undamaged before May 31, 2025.

For all cases in which the uniform is not returned before May 31, 2025 or is returned damaged, the cheque will be cashed.
