Since its inception, the Primary Choir has been nurturing and developing the young voices of singers ages 6–9. No previous choral experience is required to join the Primary Choir, just a love for music and a willingness to learn.
Like all of our choirs, the Primary Choir is a literacy-based choral program, grounded in the work of Zoltan (accent on the ‘a’) Kodály’s music pedagogy. Young singers learn exceptional music from exceptional teachers in a fun and loving environment. .
Throughout their season, Primary choristers develop basic musical skills using a combination of music games and age-appropriate repertoire. The Primary choir participates in three major productions as well as competes in the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival where they have received first place in the '10 and under' choral category for the past ten years. First place winners in the Alberta Provincial Music Festival (2017), this choir can’t wait to sing again in person in the festival in 2023!
