Sherry Steele, originally from London Ontario, grew up singing in choirs of all sorts, from church to school to camp, and also was a member of the Amabile Youth Singers. She has two degrees in voice performance from Western University, and has performed professionally in various genres for the past 25 years. Sherry has taught voice at all levels from beginner to university level and is currently a sessional voice instructor at the University of Alberta. Since moving to Edmonton in 2013, she has been an enthusiastic Cantilon parent, and is thrilled to be reviving her experience in arts administration (Orchestra London, Canadian Stage Company), in taking on the role as General Manager.
Renate Alexander is the bookkeeper for Cantilon choirs. In addition to this role, she will be supporting the General Manager as our Administrative Assistant. Renate is a long-time parent with the Cantilon choral program, with over ten years of experience as a volunteer. Her daughters both started singing in Primary Choir and are now members of the Chamber Choir. Renate’s favourite choir activity is chaperoning for the many camps and tours her girls have attended, and she is excited about the upcoming tours! Renate coordinates all of Cantilon’s fundraising efforts and keeps us all looking fabulous as a wonderful uniform coordinator. With all of these activities, you’re sure to see Renate wearing one of her many hats and an infectious smile at almost every Cantilon event!
