Vox Hominis was founded in 2016 by Cantilon Choirs’ Artistic Director, Heather Johnson. The choir was established to create a space for the lower voices of the Cantilon family. Vox formally took the stage as an ensemble in 2016, but truly began a decade earlier with a group of friends that loved to sing. Vox Hominis is founded on the sustaining Cantilon principles of community and excellence in the choral art. The ensemble is now led by Cantilon’s Assistant Artistic Director, Elaine Myhre and is composed of singers from all walks of life that are interested in creating a sophisticated choral sound while building camaraderie and community. The choir performs music of all styles and periods both on their own as well as in the company of Cantilon Choirs. Performance highlights of the 2023 -2024 season included: Our annual pub night fundraiser, Winspear Christmas Concert, March feature concert, Cantilon Spring concert and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
